Which 2017 Volkswagen models have push-button start?

At some point, you just want everything to be easier, right? Technology has come a long way, and there's really no reason why you should be fumbling with keys when your arms are full. Which is why Volkswagen has the KESSY keyless access with push-button start feature available for many models. Which 2017 vehicles feature it?

2017 Volkswagen Models That Have Push-Button Start

Each model below is listed with the starting trim to have push-button start, with all higher trims also offering this feature. For many models, you'll find that only the base trim lacks keyless access, although this isn't the case for all.

  • Beetle SE
  • CC Sport
  • e-Golf SE
  • Golf Wolfsburg
  • Golf GTI Sport
  • Golf R
  • Jetta SE
  • Passat SE
  • Golf SportWagen SE
  • Golf Alltrack SE
  • Tiguan S
  • Touareg Sport w/Technology

With so many models offering push-button start, this is a feature you're likely to see unless you choose the base trim.

How does Keyless Access with Push-Button Start work?

Remote keyless entry has been a standard feature for a few years now. You have a key fob, you press a button as you approach your car, and it unlocks so you don't have to finagle your key into the actual lock cylinder. Convenient, right? Well, keyless access makes it even more convenient as you simply have to have your keys on you, whether in your pocket or purse. When you are within five feet of your vehicle, a sensor recognizes your key fob, and you simply place your hand straight down within the handle for it to unlock.

Locking your car is just as simple, as you can place your thumb in the little dimple on the handle and it will lock – just so long as your keys aren't in the car.

Push-button start also works by sensing your key fob's transmitter, so once within the car, you just press the button to start the engine. Remember, it's a start/stop system, so you still have to press the button again to stop your car.
